Time to market and service differentiation remain top priorities among respondents of our survey
We recently commissioned a survey, through Mercator Advisory Group, asking Tier 2 and Tier 3 US financial institutions about their approach to product evolution and their views on Cloud solutions, APIs, Open Banking and other technological innovations. The findings were enlightening.
All respondents agreed on the importance of embracing new technologies, and the advantages of adopting a digital-first approach, developing solutions around cloud computing and API use. They also placed great importance on offering customer-centric products and delivering an improved digital banking and payments experience, one that embraces seamless omnichannel delivery and self-service capabilities. Overall, the survey revealed a strong drive in the industry to pursue technology-based strategies, leveraging digitalization as an important competitive differentiator.
However, another common theme soon became apparent. Many said they were disappointed with some of their current suppliers, citing poor levels of service, concerns about margin-squeezing costs and felt frustrated by slow reactions to change requests, which prevented them from getting new and enhanced solutions out into the market on time to stay competitive.
